Frontiersmen

Both boys and Leaders:

  • Earn all of the following merits

camping.gif  compass.gif  cooking.gif  firecraft.gif

firstaidskills.gif  lashing.gif  ropecraft.gif  toolcraft.gif

  • Explain the plan of Salvation.
  • Explain the meaning of the four red, four gold and eight blue points of the Royal Rangers emblem.

Boys Only:

  • Be at least eleven years old and at least an Adventure Ranger.
  • Be recommended by your outpost commander.

Leaders Only:

  • Complete the Ranger Basics LTA module.
  • Be in good standing with your church.

 

After earning all eight required merits, you have earned the Grizzly Trail FCF Merit Award. You are now eligible to attend the Frontier Adventure. Submit your application to the Chapter Scribe for Frontiersman Advancement. After successful completion of the Frontier Adventure, you will be presented with your FCF Frontiersmen pin.

Buckskin

Both boys and leaders:

  • Earn the following merits

      church.gif and  knifehawk.gif  and blackpowder.gif  or  archery.gif

  • Participate in at least one Frontier Adventure. (This does not include the Frontier Adventure you participated in to become a FCF member.)
  • Make, trade or purchase a complete FCF outfit.
  • Make an FCF identification staff.
  • Select a frontier-related craft or skill to develop.
  • Recite from memory the FCF pledge.
  • Explain the meaning of the FCF symbol.
  • State the vision and purpose of FCF.
  • Select an FCF name.
  • Complete the Buckskin workbook.
  • Be an active member in good standing for at least one year.

Boys only:

  • Earn the Bronze Medal of Achievement or one Expedition Ranger medal.

Leaders only:

  • Sponsor a boy into FCF.
  • Earn the Leaders Medal of Achievement.

Both Boys and Leaders:

After earning the three additional required merits, submit your application to the Chapter Buckskin Rep for Buckskin advancement. Once your application is approved, you will be sent the Buckskin workbook. After successful completion of the Buckskin testing, you will be awarded your Buckskin Pin at a special ceremony.

Wilderness

Both Boys and Leaders:

  • Earn the following merits.

  • Complete the Wilderness workbook.

Boys Only:

  • Earn the Silver Medal of Achievement or a second Expediton Ranger medal.
  • Sponsor a boy into FCF.
  • Participate in at least two Frontier Adventures.
  • Be an active member in good standing for at least two years.

Leaders Only:

  • Attend a National Training Camp.
  • Sponsor an additonal boy into FCF.
  • Participate in four Frontier Adventures. (This does not include the Frontier Adventure you participated in to become a Frontiersman, but does include the Buckskin required Frontier Adventure.)

Both Boys and Leaders:

After earning the four additional required merits and completing the Wilderness study program, submit your application to the Chapter Wilderness Rep for advancement to Wilderness to the Chapter Scribe. Then wear the Wilderness pouch until completion of the Wilderness Vigil. After successful completion of the Wilderness Vigil, you will be awarded your Wilderness Pin at a special ceremony.
