The first step in becoming an FCF member is the Frontiersman Advancement and is obtained by following the 'Trail of the Grizzly'. The trail of the grizzly is designed to lead boys and leaders alaong the challenging FCF advancement trail. The purpose of this Trail is to prepare boys and leaders to successfully complete each of the FCF advancements by including a unique set of merit award requirements for the Frontiersman, Buckskin and Wilderness steps.
All Trail of the Grizzly merit awards are easily identified with a grizzly paw print. The Frontiersman merit awards display a green grizzly paw print on the merit. The Buckskin merit awards display a black grizzly paw print on the meirt, and the Wilderness merit awards display a white grizzly paw.
Once the required steps for advancement have been completed, you will need to download the appropriate form to submit to the chapter scribe. Successful completion of the Frontier Adventure is a required camp for FCF membership. The Indian Nation Chapter typically holds its annual Frontier Adventure in mid-March. The Buckskin ceremony is also typically held at the same camp as the Frontier Adventure. The Wilderness Vigil is typically held in the fall. Check the 'Events' page for the current dates.
Young Bucks are FCF members who are in grades six through twelve (eleven through seventeen years old. Old-timers are FCF members who are eighteen and over.
